Micro and nano-encapsulation
The technology of preparing micro and nano-encapsulated APIs particles, is one of the main technologies used in the SMART CAPS for pharmaceutical and food industries. Many of these complexes have been commercialized in the fields of functional and superfoods, cosmetics, supplements, and natural products. These products are well characterized by instrumental analysis and receive the knowledge-based icon.
Liposomes
Liposomes are one of the best candidates for topical drug and API delivery systems. Almost all of the high-quality semi-solid and topical products are benefitted from APIs in these capsules. In liposomes, active ingredients will be absorbed better by the skin due to their compatibility with the epiderma. In the SMART CAPS, different APIs in liposomes are prepared and used in topical preparations. The technology could be tailor-made for any new idea and molecule.
Cyclosomes
Cyclosome vehicles are very suitable for sustained drug delivery. In the SMART CAPS, we used this technology to encapsulate several APIs for sustained drug delivery in oral administration. Experimental results showed that the API has prolonged release time in the plasma.
Conjugated API complexes
Preparation of conjugated API complex for target delivery is another research line in the SMART CAPS. In this approach, by tagging functional groups to the complexed molecule, the possibility of targeted drug delivery to the target tissue is provided. Several conjugated active substances have been prepared for drug delivery to the target tissue and are in the preclinical trial.
